Jamaica honeymoons are usually about beaches, resort dining and a few outings such as waterfalls, boat trips or a day in town. That means packing light, warm-weather clothes, strong sun protection and a couple of polished evening outfits. This list covers the basics and answers common questions about what to leave behind. For a general framework, see our romantic getaway packing guide.

Quick Jamaica Honeymoon Checklist

  • Passports and any required entry documents
  • Flight and accommodation confirmations
  • Travel insurance details
  • Cards and some cash
  • A pen for completing forms on arrival (blue or black ink is commonly suggested)
  • Two or more swimsuits and a cover-up
  • Sandals, water shoes and one pair of walking shoes
  • Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
  • Insect repellent
  • Medications in original packaging
  • Phone, chargers and a waterproof pouch
  • A change of clothes in your carry-on

Documents

Check current entry requirements for your nationality before you travel. Carry digital and paper copies of your passports, flights and accommodation bookings, and keep insurance details where you can reach them. Putting a change of clothes in your carry-on is also sensible in case checked luggage is delayed.

Beach and Resort Clothing

  • Lightweight, breathable fabrics in cotton or linen blends
  • Shorts, tank tops, T-shirts and a few sundresses
  • Swimwear and a light cover-up
  • A hat with a brim
  • Flip-flops or sandals

Many resorts offer laundry for a fee. If yours does not, a small amount of travel detergent helps.

Evenings at the Resort

Resorts often ask for resort-casual wear at dinner, and some restaurants prohibit swimwear or very casual items. Pack:

  • A dress or skirt, or a collared shirt with long trousers
  • Dressy sandals or flats
  • A light layer for air-conditioned dining rooms or breezy evenings

Check your resort’s dress guidelines when booking. Some resorts also hold themed nights, such as white party evenings, so look at their guest information.

Sun, Bugs and Health

  • High-SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen, and aftersun
  • Insect repellent, especially at dusk
  • Basic first-aid items, pain relief, and stomach remedies
  • Any prescriptions, carried in your hand luggage
  • Lip balm with SPF

Ask a doctor or travel clinic for current health advice before travelling, including any vaccines or precautions.

Excursions

  • Waterfalls and hikes: water shoes with grip, a quick-dry towel and a waterproof bag
  • Boat trips and snorkelling: a rash guard, reef-friendly sunscreen, and a waterproof phone pouch
  • Town visits: modest, comfortable clothing and a small crossbody bag

How Much Money to Bring

There is no single right figure for a four-day stay. Costs depend on whether your resort is all-inclusive, how many excursions you book and how much you tip. If you stay at an all-inclusive property, you may need less for food and drink but still want money for tips, souvenirs and transport. Many travellers carry a mix of cards and smaller bills, including US dollars in tourist areas, but check current guidance and withdraw local currency through reputable ATMs. Keep cash in more than one place.

What Not to Bring

  • Camouflage-patterned clothing: it is widely advised against, as it may be restricted for civilians. Check official guidance before you travel.
  • Prohibited or restricted items: do not bring illegal drugs. Check customs rules for food, plants, and medications.
  • Valuable jewellery: leave irreplaceable pieces at home, and use the hotel safe for anything you do bring.
  • Too many outfits: you will mostly live in swimwear and light clothes.

Can You Wear Orange in Jamaica?

There is no general rule against wearing orange in Jamaica that we are aware of, and bright colours are common in a tropical setting. Camouflage patterns are the clothing type to avoid. If you have concerns about a specific outfit or setting, check with your resort.

Electronics

Jamaica commonly uses Type A and B plugs at about 110V, similar to the US. Visitors from elsewhere should check their devices and bring an adapter. A power bank and waterproof phone pouch are useful for beach days.

Honeymoon Extras

  • A special dress or shirt for a beach dinner or photo session
  • A small speaker and playlist
  • A journal or keepsake book
  • Mention the honeymoon when booking, as some resorts offer small extras, though this is not guaranteed
